I’ve actually not started watch IBO because from a glanced I reckoned it strayed too far away from my ideal Gundam show. How is it honestly? I may start watching it. I’ve watched every Gundam show/short/movie save for RecoG because the art for it was too much of a turn off for me to stomach it.

IBO had one of the funniest moments...hands down...when they made fun of themselves (Gundam) and anime in general.
I don’t want to ruin it for those still watching it...but I had to pause and re-watch that scene like 10 times.

Its akin to 00. Power struggle between Earth/Mars, and seeking to end corruption (the prevailing military faction) through force. Backstory of the main cast is again tied to child soldiers (and space debris / human waste) but Gundams are not the predominate mech in this series (gundam “frames” originated 300 years prior to when IBO starts, and are a relic of the Calamity Wars; only 72 exist of which ~8 are known). Various concepts of family and pride, very little romance.

Art style has been unique and the story picks up halfway through season 1 (season 2 is the aforementioned rollercoaster). I’ve really been enjoying it. The last 20 episodes have been amazing. Okada is a genius.

I think IBO is actually pretty strong. For me, the most enjoyable Gundam since SEED.

My favorite Gundam series by a wide margin.
